OUR VALUES The Istanbul Chamber of Industry is a transparent, inclusive, reliable, determined, realistic and innovative organization that honors universal ethics, social responsibility, and environmental awareness in all activities.9 Istanbul Chamber Of Industry OUR QUALITY POLICY Istanbul Chamber of Industry, within its institutional duties and responsibilities defined in related law and legislation, aims at fulfilling its customers’ needs completely, correctly and timely, while considering the public interest and its members’ demands, in a fair and trustworthy manner. As being one of the major national and international representatives of Turkish Private Sector, Istanbul Chamber of Industry claims to sustain its reason for institutional existence and its role of representing the private sector in the changing world conjuncture. OUR OTHER POLICIES OUR COMMUNICATION POLICY The aim of this policy is to increase the level of position of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry in printed and mass media quantitatively, diversify news and share information produced in the institution with members, public and all other stakeholders effectively by using internet, social media and electronic publishing effectively, as well as traditional media tools in order to increase recognition of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, deepen its familiarity and make it an institution that does not only follow agenda, but also constitutes the agenda.10Istanbul Chamber Of Industry OUR POLICY ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES • Our policy aims to meet technological needs of our chamber by using ever-developing technologies, • Follow and implement all changes and innovations thoroughly with this purpose, • Ensure information security of our Chamber by continuously developing information security management process, • And produce quick, effective, high-quality services at global standards for our members and employees with its strong corporate infrastructure. OUR HUMAN RESOURCES POLICY Within the frame of our principle of ensuring development, employment and the satisfaction of our human resources that we consider the most important factor in determining quality of service that we produce with our vision to improve Turkish Industry at a global scale by increasing sustainable competitive power and competences of our Member Industrialists, our Human Resources Policy aims to manage our employees with a corporate point of view, which • Considers their suggestions and expectations, • Encourages them to create innovative business idea, • Prioritizes approaches that consolidate commitment, • Considers improvement of special life as much as business life and • Constitutes infrastructure required to enable them to perform their duties with job satisfaction and high motivation. OUR FINANCIAL POLICY Financial policy aims to use and assess financial resources of the chamber correctly and efficiently and conduct and record financial implementations and reportings realistically and neutrally and transparently by considering potential risks in line with relevant regulation and generally-accepted accounting principles.11 Istanbul Chamber Of Industry OUR SERVICE APPROACH • Improve communications with our members on a constant basis, • Create significant values for its members by working as a night-pharmacy of our industry and doing high-quality, effective and efficient works, • Ensure that Sectoral Committees communicate and cooperate with relevant associations and professional organizations to take common decisions in identifying and solving problems, and communicate such decisions to concerned organizations by Sectoral Committees within the knowledge of ICI management, • Make more effective use of the press to share the quality knowledge and opinions developed by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, • Enhance cooperation and communication chiefly with our parent organization TOBB (Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges) as well as with universities, research institutions, all relevant organizations and NGOs to carry out quantifiable studies that produce effective results. • Effectively use the internet and social media in order to better promote the projects, services and activities of our chamber; reinforce our communication with members and convey our opinions clearly to the public. • Enhance the brand value of long-time monthly periodical of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry named “Sanayi”, turn it into a reference guide for the industry and a major communication tool between our members and the public. As one of the largest and most well-established representative organizations of Turkish industry, the Istanbul Chamber of Industry draws its strength from its members. ASSEMBLY PRESIDENTIAL BOARD AND CHAMBER ASSEMBLY Elected by registered members of the chamber from Sectoral Committee members every four years, the Chamber Assembly is the largest supervisory body within the Chamber. ICI’s Assembly Presidential Board is composed of the president, two vice presidents and one secretary, all of whom elected from among the Assembly Members for a term of four years. Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, Disciplinary Board and Sectoral Commissions are elected by the Chamber Assembly. The assembly convenes once per month to discuss a specific agenda, and may form additional commissions from among its members to investigate and evaluate specific developments when necessary. ICI organization also includes an Accounts Examination Commission and a Legislative Commission. Assembly meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month. Bodies of ICI appointed with election Assembly Presidential Council Chamber Assembly Chamber Board of Directors Disciplinary Board Sectoral Committees14Istanbul Chamber Of Industry BOARD OF DIRECTORS The executive body of the Chamber, the Board of Directors is composed of the Chairman and ten members, elected by the Chamber Assembly for a term of four years. The ICI Board of Directors selects two Vice Chairmen and one Board Treasurer among its members, assigning duties according to the members’ area of expertise. The Chamber’s Disciplinary Board has six members, chosen by the Chamber Assembly among Chamber members who do not serve on the Assembly, for a term of four years. The Disciplinary Board conducts disciplinary investigations on Chamber members in according to legislative principles and procedures, and recommends the suitable disciplinary action or fines against Chamber members. DISCIPLINARY BOARD15 Istanbul Chamber Of Industry SECTORAL COMMITTEES Members of our chamber are categorized in various sectoral groups representing the entire manufacturing industry. “Sectoral Committees” consist of representatives selected by the members of each sectoral group. Elections are held every four years. Sectoral Committees convene every month to discuss topics related to their sectors and submit proposals to problems brought forward by the Board of Directors. Joint Meetings of Sectoral Committees and meetings with ministries are other platforms for Sectoral Committee members to voice their opinions, identify problems of the industry, and discuss potential solutions.
