Since March when the pandemic was officially announced by the World Health Organization, COVID-19 which have already deeply impacted the social and financial life in the whole world has been maintaining its existence as the most important risk and uncertainty factor for the near future of the humanity. Countries are trying to perform their duty to minimize the impact of the pandemic on the social welfare at any platform by continuing their financial activities as much as possible while protecting the human life and social health.
The World Health Organization is of the same opinion regarding some outcomes of the pandemic which are assumed to be permanent from social life to financial activities. Such outcomes will undoubtedly will result in new needs and requirements. All actors of the economy including the governments have to approach to the future through a new and different perspective within the scope of these needs and requirements. No matter if we agree or not, this period which we are going through challenge anyone and any section to approach to the future through a new and different perspective and adapt to this process defined as “the new normal”.
As Istanbul Chamber of Industry, we initiated a study needed by all manufacturing sectors in collaboration with Price Waterhouse Coopers Türkiye in May based on this detection and such needs. I would like to specifically underline that our primary aim is not to reveal the overall appearance of the industry. Therefore, this study has been shaped as “COVID-19 and Manufacturing Sectors in New Normal: Risks, Prices and Route Maps”. The first findings which were put forward by the knowledge and experience of Price Waterhouse Coopers in such studies and the active participation and support of our Profession Committee members which might be deemed as a kind of MR says something about the future for all of us.
The reason why I called them as the first findings is that this study should not be considered as a report prepared and completed at all. Because the findings that we obtained here should be deemed as a content that should be enriched with further studies instead of being a content requiring to be read once and take radical steps promptly.
As a lively project which we will further improve and detail through the new developments and studies, it will serve as a reliable route map for the industry sectors when it is matured with the contributions of all stakeholders especially the Profession Committees and sectors.
During such a period when the short-sightedness is very high and common, we will put our best efforts to transform our study titled “COVID-19 and Manufacturing Industries in New Normal” into a route map which constitutes our primary aim within the shortest time period and share with the public.
Considering our history, August is full of victories. One of the best examples of these victories is the Victory of August 30. We should know the value of this precious day that symbolizes our unity and solidarity. Happy 30 August Victory Day...
