We released with a little delay the results of ICI’s Türkiye's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises survey for 2022, a survey we have been announcing since 1968 and which has become the most precious brand of both ICI and Türkiye. The reason of that delay was the devastating Kahramanmaraş earthquake we had in February 6th. We completed our survey after our industrial enterprises affected from the earthquake were able to share their financial statements under the scope of the force majeure granted to them by our government. I would like to once again convey my deepest condolences to the people of the region and our industrial community for our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake. May their soul rest in peace. Our ISO 500 survey was received widespread public attention, as expected every year. It made headlines with its different data in all the media from written and visual media to digital and social media.
As you will find in the following pages of our magazine, our ISO Top 500 Industrial Enterprises survey covers a wide range of data including production, sales ranking, financial indicators, foreign capital companies, employment, technology structure, R&D expenditures, sectoral and regional distribution of large companies and I think it will be talked about a lot in the coming period and will be a frequently referenced resource when revealing some structural problems of our economy.
The agenda of our September assembly was also ISO 500 and we discussed these important data under the agenda topic “Getting Prepared for The New Age Industry; Evaluation of 2022 ISO 500 Results In Terms of Our Industry and Economy”. Piri Reis University’s Vice President Prof. Dr. Erhan Aslanoğlu, Marmara University Business Administration Faculty’s Faculty Member Prof. Dr. S. Burak Arzova and Spinn Eğitim ve Danışmanlık’s Founding Partner Özlem Derici Şengül shared their opinions with our Assembly members at a panel moderated by Bloomberg HT Chief Editor Açıl Sezen. Our Assembly members also shared their valuable opinions regarding ISO 500.
Early last month, the Mid-Term Program (MTP), which will be a very important roadmap for the new economic period, was announced to the public by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. MTP includes the basic macroeconomic targets such as inflation, employment and growth for the 2024-2026 period, a brief summary of which you can read on the following pages. I also attended the meeting where it was announced to the public, and I would like to express here that it is extremely pleasing for our industry and economy that, as ICI, our opinions and suggestions are included on many topics in the MTP, to which we made significant contributions during its formation.
I would also like to share with you some of our very important events in October. We will hold the 5th Defense Industry Summit at Swissotel on Tuesday, October 17th. In this event, which has become a tradition in cooperation with SAHA Istanbul, we will bring together the main manufacturer companies operating in the defense industry and our member supplier companies.
I would like to share with you that within the scope of our activities for the 100th anniversary of our Republic, we will organize our Republic Celebration Night at the Koç Museum on Friday, October 27, with the participation of our assembly members and their spouses.
Again, as part of our 100th anniversary events, we have prepared a digital exhibition about manufacturing and vocational education in our Odakule hall.
We have determined the name of our kindergarten, which we previously announced and built in Sancaktepe, as "Istanbul Chamber of Industry 100th Anniversary Republic Kindergarten", in memory of the 100th Anniversary of our Republic. We are expecting to open this school together with the participation of our Minister of National Education in the coming days. I wish you all a peaceful and healthy month.
