We Shouldn’t be a Mere Spectator for the Future

The future is a mysterious and exciting notion which arises everybody’s curiosity and hopes, and sometimes makes them concerned. We hosted Alphan Manas, innovative entrepreneur, futurist and Honorary President of Turkish Futurists Association in the February Assembly by realizing a perspective oriented to the future with the agenda of “Changing Business-Manufacture Understanding and Predictions about Future in the light of Science and Technology”. We listened the Mr. Manas’ predictions for the future with an attention.

We are attaching importance to be prepared for the future not only theoretically or by discussing but also concrete implementations and steps. We experienced the best example of this by brining 13 entrepreneurs in the ICI KOZA Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program together with industrialists. While scrutinizing the entrepreneurship subjects with the panels of “Türkiye’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” and “Angel Investment and Opportunities in Türkiye” realized in the meeting of ICI KOZA-ITU Core Enterprises and Profession Committee Joint Meeting, ICI KOZA Entrepreneurs presented their presentations introducing their enterprises and their companies.

Knowledge-data is gaining importance increasingly to interpret the trends oriented future correctly and get prepared properly. Starting with this fact, we held a joint conference with IHS Markit with which we announce the PMI data which is the most current and reliable leading indicator of the manufacturing sector together in each month. We found opportunity to announce to public that we will publish our reports “Outlook and Expectations in Industry” and “Export Climate Index” by three-month periods within the framework of cooperation with IHS Markit in out meeting.

A similar meeting to the previous ones we organized with the Ministry of Finance and the Revenue Administration was held with the Ministry of Customs and Trade in last March. In this meeting, Assembly Members and Committee of Profession Members had opportunity to share their sectoral subjects with the Ministry.

On the other hand, we organized an Automotive Workshop with the participation of Dr. Faruk Özlü, the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology and Cemil Ertem, the President of Turkish Republic Principle Consultant. We touched upon the necessities to improve the manufacture of local intermediate goods in automotive sector and increase the investments in this direction with the aim of both decreasing our current deficit and keeping the created added-value within our country as much as possible.

We are celebrating the happiness of leaving five years behind of which not only this month bur also each month was spent fully because of the dense activities. 2013-2018 operating cycle of our Board of Directors will be completed as of the month April. Committee Profession elections will be carried out in Hilton Elmadag Convention Center on 2 April 2018. Following this election, the elections of Assembly Presidency Council, Board of Directors, Disciplinary Committee, TOBB Delegates and Presidents of Committee Profession will be carried out in Odakule building.
