ICI Management Contacted with EU Decision-Making Bodies in Brussels

İrfan Özhamaratlı, Deputy President of Board of Directors of Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) and Mustafa Tacir, ICI Board of Directors Member visited Brussels to contact with EU Decision-Making Bodies. ICI Board firstly came together with Mehmet Kemal Bozay, EU Permanent Representative of Türkiye. Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Ambassador underlined the importance of the harmonization of the targets of UE and targets of Türkiye and mentioned that the R&D and innovation should be focused in the meeting.
While emphasizing that Türkiye can use its regional advantage and open to the Western Balkans in the meeting, it was stated that a building was constructed at the point where once TUR&BO Office which had been established by TOBB, TUBITAK, KOSGEB and TESK and closed in 2016 was standing in Brussels and the private sector should participate in this representation office actively. It was mentioned that Germany will undertake the presidency of the council of the European Union at the second half of 2020 and it will be beneficial to have constant contacts and realize visits to Germany.
And a presentation on the framework of Horizon Europe Program to be applied by EU for the period of 2021-2027 following Horizon 2020 was made for the ICI Board which met with Bernhard Fabianek, the Policy Officer of International Cooperation of European Commission DG and Neville Reeve, Head of Missions Unit.
And the ICI Board who met with Natalia Martiner Paramo, the Head of COSME (Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) and Silvi Serrequi, the Project Officer for Türkiye of Enterprise Europe Network provided information about the works and operation of ICI in the negotiation realized with Julien Guerrier, the Director of EASME and Cornelius Schmaltz, the of Unit EIC Task Force.
And ICI Board negotiated with Iwona Piorko, the Head of DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) and Laura Mc Grath, International Relations Specialist for Türkiye on setting new policies after the New EU Commission takes office.
