DISASTER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
Disasters disrupt people's physical, economic, and social lives, either temporarily or for long periods, causing disruptions in the natural flow of ordinary life.
The business world also emerges as a significant component of society that is most negatively affected in the event of a disaster. Due to the dramatic increase in the frequency, variety, and damage of disasters in recent years, and because of the emergence of new developments related to disaster management in industry, the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (İSO) management has adopted an important management approach on the subject.
With this aim, demonstrating a visionary approach, the "Disaster Management Department" was established within the chamber with the motto "DISASTER-RESILIENCE INDUSTRY" by a decision of the Board of Directors.
Our goal is to minimize the damages of potential disasters that may occur in the industry together with all our stakeholders by carrying out strategic and operational activities aimed at ensuring business continuity, taking into account all hazards, considering all disaster phases, and using all resources effectively and efficiently, with an integrated disaster and emergency management approach, against events caused by nature, humans, and technology that may cause potential business interruptions, while protecting life, property, and the environment at the institutional level.
It will contribute to conducting collaborative studies with all relevant parties, especially public and local governments, to improve and develop the disaster resilience of facilities, and for this purpose, it is planned to develop projects together with international institutions, public, and private organizations.
Furthermore, we aim to expand our chamber's sphere of influence regarding disaster management by participating in meetings, conferences, and other events on disaster management.
