Istanbul Chamber of Industry Participated in World Circular Economy Forum in Brussels

The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI) attended the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) 2024 event held in Brussels, Belgium, from April 15 to 18, 2024, with the theme "Turning Circular Visions into Action." The delegation, led by Sultan Tepe, Accounting Member of Board of Directors of ICI and President of the Sustainability Platform, engaged with business leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world who are involved in circular economy initiatives.

Organized by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, in collaboration with the Circle Economy Foundation and the International Resource Panel, the WCEF2024 forum featured four main sessions and 16 parallel sessions over the first two days. The main sessions addressed thematic topics of global interest, while the parallel sessions focused on inspiring, practical, and scalable examples of circular economy practices.

In addition to showcasing businesses and organizations offering solutions from around the world, a fair was held to discuss progress in Europe, alongside the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference 2024 (ECESC). As part of the program, field visits were arranged for Belgian circular economy companies by the Belgian EU Presidency team on April 17.

Within the framework of the event, the delegation led by Sultan Tepe, Accounting Member of Board of Directors of ICI and President of the Sustainability Platform, met with Ambassador Faruk Kaymakçı, Permanent Representative of Turkey to the European Union. Discussions during the meeting centered on current topics regarding Turkey-EU relations and the European Green Deal.
